Less Congestion and Fairer Parking

12.00.00am GMT Wed 19th Oct 2005

Less congestion and fairer parking are promised when changes are implemented to the current Central Milton Keynes car parking scheme.

From Friday 4 November, residents, workers and visitors will benefit from:

• The introduction of commuter parking permits and car-share permits to long-stay pay-and-display parking bays in Station Square and beside the Hockey Stadium (exclusively for Milton Keynes council-tax payers)

• The introduction of "No double parking" throughout Central Milton Keynes

• The addition of a further six disabled parking bays

• The introduction of an additional taxi rank at Xcape

• Relocation of 15 residents' parking bays from North Row to North Fourteenth Street

• Increase of free parking in North Row

• Ten additional 15-minute drop-off bays at the railway station.

Cabinet Member responsible for parking, Liberal Democrat Councillor Graham Mabbutt said: "This is part of the annual review of the Central Milton Keynes car parking scheme. We aim to fine-tune the scheme in response to requests from users, and to make the scheme even more user-friendly."
