As a Milton Keynes resident commuting out of Central Milton Keynes you can save yourself loads of money by joining Milton Keynes successful car-share scheme.

From Friday 4 November the scheme is opening up to commuters travelling from Milton Keynes. All you need to do is prove your status as a Milton Keynes council-tax payer and provide a copy of your rail season ticket - and, of course, share your car journey to the station.

The parking areas included in the scheme will be the long-stay pay-and-display bays in Station Square and beside the Hockey Stadium. Space is limited, so permits will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

Milton Keynes car-share scheme is the most successful in the country. Over 10% of all workers in the city use the scheme and enjoy discounted travel and free parking.

Cabinet member for transport, Liberal Democrat councillor Graham Mabbutt, said: "I am delighted that we are extending the highly successful Central Milton Keynes car-share scheme to rail commuters who are Milton Keynes residents. This is another move forward in reducing the number of cars using our roads and thereby preventing increased congestion."
