Major Improvements to Household Waste Sites Underway12.00.00am GMT Fri 18th Nov 2005 Changes to the layout of the household waste sites (also known as community recycling centres) at Bleak Hall and Newport Pagnell will make the dropping off of waste and recycling material much quicker. The new-style sites will increase recycling capacity and there will be little or no need to shut the sites whilst compressing the waste contained in the bins, which is current practice. Work has already started at Bleak Hall and will start soon at Newport Pagnell. It will be completed by the end of February 2006. Liberal Democrat Councillor Douglas McCall, cabinet member for the environment said: "The regular trip to the tip will be much easier for residents and will help to increase the city's recycling rates. It is vitally important that we continue to increase the amount of recycling we do to reduce the amount of rubbish that goes to landfill."
