Over 2,700 Pensioners In Milton Keynes Are Missing Out on Pension Credit

12.00.00am GMT Sat 12th Nov 2005

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Campaigner Jane Carr is urging local pensioners not to miss out on claiming pension credit.

New figures on the take-up of pension credit show that, across Milton Keynes, 2,746 pensioners are missing out on what is rightfully theirs.

Jane Carr said: "It is a scandal that so many poorer older people are missing out on money they should be getting as of right. In Milton Keynes, this represents a loss to the local economy of over £120,000.

"In the short term, I hope everyone who is unsure about their entitlement will ring the pension service helpline (0845 6060265) to find out if they are missing out. In the longer term, Liberal Democrats believe pensioners should be provided with a decent pension that doesn't fall further and further below the poverty line each year."
