Improvements to Bleak Hall Recycling Centre

12.00.00am GMT Mon 13th Feb 2006

Improvements to the Bleak Hall Community Recycling Centre promise speedier recycling for city residents when changes to the layout of the present facility make dropping off waste and recycling material much quicker.

The improved site will have increased recycling capacity and there will be little or no need to shut the site while compressing the waste contained in the bins, which is current practice.

The planned works are expected to be completed by early March. The improvements will mean the Bleak Hall site will be shut for approximately three weeks from Monday, February 13th. Alternative sites are available at Newport Pagnell and New Bradwell while Bleak Hall is closed.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Douglas McCall, cabinet member for the environment, said: "The regular trip to the tip will be much easier for residents and this will help to increase the city's recycling rates, which have already tripled since the Liberal Democrats took over running the Council in 2002."
