Mayor Officially Opens the New Wolverton Library

12.00.00am GMT Tue 13th Jun 2006

The Mayor of Milton Keynes performed the official opening of the new Wolverton Library on June 13.

Located alongside Wolverton and Greenleys Town Council's offices and other community facilities, the library will continue to provide modern computer equipment with Internet access, and includes special features for children and disabled people. There is bright new furniture and shelving as well as a room that can be used for quiet reading or adult education.

The new library has responded to what local people said they wanted and has a wide range of new books, CDs and DVDs for the public as well as all the old favourites, including newspapers in several languages and the historic Wolverton Gazette.

Councillor Euan Henderson, Liberal Democrat cabinet member with responsibility for libraries, said: "This is a fantastic new library in the heart of the community, providing information and exciting resources for everyone, and staffed by the same helpful and experienced staff who have moved over from the old building.'"

The Town Hall also hosts Citizens Advice Bureau sessions, the story-tellers "A Word in Edgeways", the L&NW Railway archive, the Wolverton Regeneration Information Centre and Milton Keynes Councillors' surgeries.
