Lib Dems Campaign to Stop Health Service Cuts9.16.00pm GMT Sun 11th Jun 2006 Milton Keynes Liberal Democrats have launched a campaign to stop the proposed cuts to local health services. They want to see improved local health services that are accountable to local people. "By forcing the proposed cuts on our NHS the Labour Government is letting down local people," said Lib Dem Parliamentary Campaigner, Jane Carr. The Primary Care Trust is being forced to: • close the Fraser Day Centre in Newport Pagnell • reduce day care for people with mental health problems • make significant budget cuts at the hospital. The Liberal Democrats in Milton Keynes have launched a petition against NHS cuts and plan to present the petition to the Secretary of State for Health. The petition was launched in Newport Pagnell High Street on Bank Holiday Monday, 29 May, and will continue throughout June and July. You can sign it now by going to "Sign our petition" on this website or using the link below. Jane Carr explains: "These cuts are down to bad management, not locally, but by the Labour Government. The Government has messed up the finances of the NHS in Milton Keynes with a 'stop-go' approach to funding, as they are too obsessed with controlling every detail of the NHS rather than letting local people have a real say in local services. "Now the Government wants to cut services regardless of the impact upon local needs and city growth. Milton Keynes Liberal Democrats want to see improved local health services that are properly accountable to local people." Related Link:
